Description
Steam distilled from the flowers of the lavender shrub, the oil is dark yellow to dark yellow-green and delivers a sweet and floral middle-top fragrance note with herbaceous over and undertones. Used for its calming, sedative effect as well as in soaps, shampoos and cosmetics, its skin healing properties include the ability to diminish skin scarring and bruising, and when well diluted in carrier oil can ease the discomfort of dry, flaky skin and soothe mild sunburn. As a deodorizer, it can be used topically or as a room or fabric spray. Many lavender aficionados swear by its ability to reduce anxiety and depression and calm and balance a busy mind.

Essential oils are potent, and a little bit goes a long way. Do not use essential oils undiluted directly on the skin as they can cause irritation. Keep away from children, and do not apply near the eyes, mucous membranes, sensitive or broken skin. Every individual reacts differently to essential oils: Always perform a ‘test patch’ properly diluted in carrier oil to determine sensitivity. Avoid using when pregnant except on the advice of a qualified practitioner, as outlined above.
